Why few go places but few get stuck. What I have seen over the past two decades, are these parameters that can definetly influence you to be a much better designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"dd0b\">Obsessiveness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"a7c3\">This comes as a default package in most of the designers and yes it is one of your biggest asset. You have to be obsessive about anything and everything that you are surrounded by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You may be a crazy pixel pusher with an terrific eye for detail<\/li><li>You won\u2019t settle for good, but always strive for best<\/li><li>A heavy mood swinger<\/li><li>You may have your own way of doing things<\/li><li>You might be a big critic of your own work<\/li><li>You set your bar way high<\/li><li>You might be finicky about things<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"dfd1\">Just be cautious that there is a very thin line between obsessiveness and arrogance, and it is very easy to fall prey for the later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"27a8\"><strong>Empathy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"a7b9\">This might sound absolute contrast to the previous point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1ae2\">Designers are generally perceived to be tough to handle and in most cases they are not a good team player. All your obsessiveness would be mere waste if you don\u2019t empathise with following,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To your problem\/product<\/li><li>To your clients\/business<\/li><li>To your team (Executives, Product Owners, Engineers)<\/li><li>To your fellow designers<\/li><li>To time\/deadline<\/li><li>To success &amp; failure<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ff5a\">Try to be as rational and objective as possible. End of the day, you are not playing an individual sport, but a team game. You have to be part of the team to win and without collaboration it is impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"8c1a\"><strong>Story Telling<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"05e3\">Story telling was never new to us, since our childhood. It is a proven technique used by all our mothers to convince us to get things done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"d38d\">One of the key role in a designer\u2019s life is to convince hundreds of people that their idea is worth pursuing. The art of story telling<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>in UX might not be easy, but it does&nbsp;<strong>MAGIC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI<strong>&nbsp;pitched Titanic into the studio as Romeo &amp; Juliet, epic romance &amp; a passionate film\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><em>James Cameron | Director of Titanic<\/em><\/p><p><strong>\u201cWhy not have these 11 villagers fight against britishers in a non-violent form\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Ashutosh Gowariker | Director of Lagaan<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"78b0\">Story telling helps to bring the following with your target audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engage<\/li><li>Clarity<\/li><li>Convince<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1848\">Put yourself in a film directors shoes, he needs to first convince producer about his vision. Very similar to how UX Designers convince about their product revamp\/new design proposal to their respective product stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"950a\">Once the storyline is set, director needs to collaborate with his actors, actresses, cinematographers, musicians and other technicians to make his vision into reality.
