Role Summary: Common tasks, qualifications and special skills
Technical
- Possess a working knowledge and practical application of design principles (feature function allocation, metaphor, menu/object structure, windows usage, layout, style, information design)
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of UCD process
- Demonstrate a working knowledge and practical application of UI design tools
- Possess a working knowledge of Oracle products in a domain; familiarity with competitive products
- Possess a working knowledge of UI Development with ability to make design decisions based on technical feasibility
Execution
- Create UI prototypes, UI models and/or UI standards for one large or several small products
- Write UI style guides, design direction white papers, and/or whole product UI specifications
- Maintain and communicate design plan for one or more products as team lead
- Contribute design solutions to usability reports
- Contribute to planning and execution of customer research activities (site visits, surveys, focus groups)
- Review product designs for compliance with UI standards
- Educate development, product management and strategy about UCD principles and deliverables
- Present at industry conferences or contribute blog article publications.
Teamwork/Leadership
- Work independently with members of product management, strategy and development on the design of one or more products
- Maintain project plans, schedules and status independently
- Receive biweekly supervision
- Mentor junior staff
- Supervise contractors and interns as necessary
- Demonstrate mature and responsible attitude to all aspects of assigned position
- Exercise flexibility and adaptability towards achieving the overall objectives of the group/division
Qualifications
- Possess 4-5 years experience which is required, while 4-8 years work experience is preferred
- Possess B.A. or M.A. degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field

- Strong problem solver with a great eye for aesthetics.
- Act as an end user advocate to help the customer to understand the value of end users to their business.
- Ability to work directly with customers to build ideas from scratch to MVP.
- Ability to challenge developers and thrive for pixel perfection.
- Ability to articulate design ideas, design solutions, problem statements to product stakeholders, customers and internal customers effectively both verbal and written.
