We’re designers. There’s more to that job description than most people think. Every day calls them to try on different roles, to answer the need of the hour.
THE EXPLORER
They have to be able to get an understanding of the situation from the first impression; always asking “the important questions” and always exploring.
THE SALESMAN
At the drop of the hat, they are called upon to sell their design concepts confidently and support them with a rock-solid thinking process.
Once that’s done, they must also be able to dependably back up those designs with an awesome high-quality product.
THE HIGH FLYER
These perceptions are all true… but there’s more to it than that!
To execute all these roles dependably, a designer moves quickly from role to role within a team and with clients.
THE DIPLOMAT
They’re a diplomat with clients, communicating empathetically
so that they’re always speaking their clients language, building a steady fanbase along the way.
THE JUDGE
They’re also an astute judge of good ideas, listening to everyone on board, and ultimately harvesting the best ideas in the field.
THE ACROBAT
They’re as flexible as a circus acrobat, adaptive and agile.
THE TEAMMATE
Like an acrobat, they’re also great at building and working with a dynamite team, always collaborating and communicating to get the sparks flying.
THE RINGMASTER
Ultimately, they’re also a great ringmaster, keeping everybody on time and accountable
